Under a one on one mentorship with Daniel Packman, former teacher at the ArtCenter and now founder of DesignBlue, I learned first hand about the design process.
Identifying a gap in the current market of bird feeders, this concept targets those living in apartments or urban spaces. Designed with an adaptable attachment device, the sleek and modern design allows for setup without a tree to hang from.
The university credited curriculum took 9 weeks and encompassed initial ideation, hand sketches, bread board models, product testing, and finished with refined renderings.
Over the same period of time, I was required to report weekly with a presentation on an influential period in design starting in the 1890's with the Arts and Crafts movement on through the 2000's with Jony Ive and the design of Apple.
